We had a wonderful week filled with Christmas activities. We watched a movie; “The Polar Express”, had doughnuts and hot chocolate, wrote Christmas postcards to our families, had a gift exchange, and now we are ready to celebrate Christmas with our families on the 25th.

Have a wonderful and safe Christmas Break. Enjoy this time with your families & friends.

Gift Exchange 12/17

Dear Parents,

We will have a gift exchange in our classroom on Thursday, December 17th (the last day of school before the break). In the past, girls have bought a gift to give another girl and the same for the boys. This has worked very well so we would like to keep it the same this year. We will not choose names for a Secret Santa. Instead, if your child is a girl, please help her to choose and buy a gift that would be suitable for a girl. If your child is a boy, please help him to select a gift that would be suitable for another boy.

We have set a 300NT limit for each gift so please try to spend approximately this amount to be fair. The gifts should be wrapped or hidden inside a bag. The kids really have a great time with this and it gives them a chance to feel good about giving to others. If you have any questions or do not feel comfortable with your child participating, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Dear Parents,

It is wonderful to be back! I have missed my students so much. I am so thankful for all the wonderful substitute Teachers who covered all my classes while I was gone. Your child was in good hands every single day!

Literacy:

We read two awesome stories called Dad’s Big Plan and Dog School. The students loved reading about a dog that attends school to learn how to behave better. They all learned from his example.

Math:

In Math lessons we learned about flat surfaces and corners. The students were able to count the flat surfaces as well as counting the vertices. Then we sorted solid figures. They are all able to identify geometric solids and sort them accordingly. We finished Topic 8, and did our Quiz.

In topic 9 we will focus on Patterns. The students will also learn how to predict what pattern comes next.

Social Studies:

For Social Studies we focused on CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD. We are hoping to cover countries like: America, Canada, Sweden, Italy, Mexico, France,England and Germany. The students love learning about Christmas traditions and festivities in other countries.

Science:

We finished the Chapter 3 on People. The students did their Quiz, and we are ready to start the new Chapter on Living Things and Where They Live.

Art: In our Art lesson we made Christmas Stockings with “Christmassy” colors. The students love Christmas and all the joy and cheer that goes with it.

I am looking forward to see you at our Christmas Show next Friday evening, which starts at 18:30! The students are very excited to get on the stage and show off their “singing” talents.

Thank you again for all your support I feel everyday, especially with the passing of my Father, Albert. Life is short! We need to appreciate every single day we have, appreciate every loved-one and individual in our lives. Make those phone calls, tell them how much you love them.

Dear Parents,

On December 11th we will have our annual Christmas Concert in the auditorium at school. Please note the following arrangements for this day:

December 11th will be a normal school day and the children will be sent home at 3:10pm as usual. Please be sure to collect your children on time by 3.15pm so they are able to go home to have a rest and an early dinner. Teachers and administration staff also need this time!

Please bring your children back to school at 6:15pm and send them to their classroom so that we can get them changed and ready for the show. At 6:30pm there will be light refreshments for parents in the cafeteria. The concert will start at 7pm and will probably finish around 8:30pm.

All students will be supervised in the Kindergarten or Pre-K classrooms until it is time for their class performance. Parents can enjoy the show and not worry about their children who will be watching a movie or cartoons in the classrooms at this time. Students will have seen the performance during the week.

Once the specific class’ performance is finished, the children will return to the Kindergarten or Pre-K classrooms where they will stay until the end of the show.

All students will be brought to the auditorium at the end of the show for our sing-a-long. The younger students will be allowed to sit with their parents. When the show finishes, it is very possible that Santa will be visiting the school and will be available for photos!
