Friday Feedback 2/26

Dear Parents,

We had another great week at school and we started some interesting topics especially in Science and Math.

Literacy:
We read the story, “That Toad Is Mine”. The students loved to learn how two good friends share everything, including their pet toad. At first they had to solve the problem of having only one toad to share, and then find a solution to share the toad among themselves.
For Spelling we focussed on the sounds “ow” & “oa” like;  boat, goat, soap, road, slow, grow, know, throw, own

Math:
Topic 13 is all about Counting Money. We will learn how much a penny, nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar and dollar are worth. We counted by 10’s, 5s, and 1s to find the value of a group of coins.

Social Studies:
We learned about the First Americans, their culture including language, clothes and food. We also learned how the immigrants have helped to define the American culture.

Science:
The students learned about “Oceans” and “Wetlands” and how to compare and contrast them.

Art:
The students enjoyed the messy part of art, where they dipped marbles in different colors of paint and moved the marbles around inside a tray. Colorful and unique abstract prints were made.

Just a reminder that Monday, 2/29 will be a public holiday in Taiwan. Have a wonderful time with your family and stay safe!

Regards,
Mrs. Slabbert

Dear Parents,

What a wonderful week this has been. The students are not only receiving a great education, but also learning through play. Most of all they are appreciating people around them and life as a whole.
We celebrated Valentine’s Day as well as the 100th day of school. The students enjoyed doing activities celebrating these events.

Literacy:
We read about the Red-Eyed Tree Frog, and some rain forest animals and their habitats. The students enjoyed this science related story which is also linked to our first lesson, Science Chapter 5 on Forests. (Tropical Rain Forests and Pine Forests)

Math:
We covered one before and one after a given number, as well as the number that comes between two other numbers. The students got to play a game to put 3 two-digit numbers in order from least to greatest, and they made lists of possible answer to help solve number riddles.

Social Studies:
We learned about the elements of culture, including language, clothing, food and stories of the First Americans.

Science:
In Science we learned about Forests; Tropical Rain Forests and Pine Forests. The students understand how plants and animals live in forests.

Art:
We drew “Stacking Birds” with pencils, traced them with black markers and used bright colors for coloring.

Thank you for your continuous support.

Regards,

Mrs. Slabbert
