Friday Feedback 10/8

Dear Parents,

What a fun and exciting week we had; focussing on “GLOBAL AWARENESS WEEK”. We did three mini lessons on NO HUNGER, GOOD HEALTH and PEACE AND JUSTICE. All three these were perfect reminders for this age group to reflect on their lives and the lives of others around them on how they can make this world a better place.

Due to our Global Awareness lessons, we put our regular schedule a bit on hold this past week.

Literacy: Stories: Bunnies and the Fox, Val Can Help. The students are able to read these stories well, and responded to the story by answering response questions. A few students were able to retell the story and acting it out. Story vocabulary: bear, bunnies, bunny, little, snow, window, woods. In Phonics we focussed on short “o” and “e’ words.

Social Studies:  Chapter review.

Science: Introduction to Chapter 2, ANIMALS. The students got to understand the different body parts animals have that help them to survive, move and find food.

Math:  We focussed on Subtraction Number sentences this week. Subtraction/ Minus/ Take away are new concepts to the students, and they got to compare the two groups to show how they are different.

Art:  In one Global Awareness Lesson we covered “Peace and Justice”. They know what peace mean to them and the people around them. They got to color a “peace sign”, using many bright colors.

We will do Spelling List 4 next week.  Thank you for your continuous support.

Have a great weekend with your family.

Friday Feedback

Friday Feedback

Dear Parents,

What an eventful week this has been! Due to typhoon Dujuan we were not able to cover all the academic work, but we sure had time for Art, Reading, Math and Spelling.

Literacy:   We read the two stories VAL CAN HELP and THE BUNNIES AND THE FOX. The students enjoyed both stories and were able to read the stories and answer questions orally.
High Frequency Words: do, for, I, is, me, my, said, you
Short ‘e’ words: yes, help, wet, next, pen

Science:   We spent some time reviewing Chapter one, Plants. The students did their first science quiz today.  They got the opportunity to look at short video clip about a PINE Tree cone seed collection and pine cones.

Art:  The students drew their own Cactus. They painted the cactus green, the soil brown and the skies blue.

Math:   We learned about the missing parts of 6,7,8 and 9. The students got introduced to subtraction and subtraction sentences.

Social Studies:  Reviewed Chapter 1

Please note that we will have another short week next week. We will have “ Global Awareness Week”, where we will  focus on the following topics:
  • Global Goals Introduction
  • No Hunger
  • Good Health
  • Peace and Justice
We will use our Literacy and Social Studies blocks to cover those topics.

Thank you for your cooperation and support. Your child makes each day a joyous and pleasurable one.
Have a great weekend spending time with your child and family.
